Playing Through the Barriers When Learning Guitar
Practice, Practice, Practice!
So you’ve made the decision that you are serious about learning to play the guitar. Now it’s important to understand some of the most important aspects of learning. First off, and I can’t stress this enough, practice is one of THE most important things when it comes to your guitar playing. By practice I don’t mean to just play. You need to be improving your skills on a consistent basis, and that is only done through practice, practice, and more practice.
Work Through the Frustration
You WILL get frustrated with yourself at times, but you cannot let this frustration get ahold of you and slow your progress. When you see people playing and they make it look so effortless, you may feel like you should be able to do the things they are doing, and you want to do them right now! Remember though, that there was a time when they were like you. Everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone was a beginner at some point, just like you are right now. But with the right instruction and practice, you will quickly advance your skills, and move up in the ranks of guitar players. For now though, work diligently on your technique and you will be well on your way to becoming an expert player.
Plow Through the Learning Curve
There is a learning curve here, and that curve is different for everyone. Becoming a good player takes commitment to get through that curve. Good, motivating instruction will help immensely at times when the curve is steep. Oftentimes, problems start when you’re trying to attend a group or private course somewhere, and the learning curve on some particular lesson gets steep. You get frustrated and then begin to fall behind in the class. Or, maybe there is something you just don’t understand, but the rest of the class seems to be getting it. This is why online courses can be so effective – they combine reading, video, and audio instruction, and you can do them as many times as you need to! You may find that you are a lot less likely to become frustrated.
You Can Do It!
Learning to play guitar well takes some dedication and commitment. If you motivate yourself to learn how to play the chances are good that you will catch on to the lessons quickly and easily. Soon your friends and family members won’t believe how quickly you have learned to play! Get ready to impress everyone at parties, and get ready to just entertain yourself by picking up the guitar and playing whenever you want to. Make it happen!
